Published 06/10/23Well done to the Year 5 and 6 boys who played their first league matches on Wednesday 4th October.
They played 3 matches; Meridian Angel, Galliard and Raglan. We won our first match 3-0 and lost to Galliard 1-0 and Raglan 2-0.
Everyone played brilliantly, and the goalie made some great saves! A fantastic effort from everyone in the team!

Published 30/06/23Receiving the Eucharist for the first time is a special moment in a child's faith journey. Several children in Years 3, 4 and 5 have recently made their First Holy Communion. Last week, we celebrated this moment with a special mass in our church. Children and their families were invited to this lovely event and joined by their school friends. After the mass, the children were joined by family and friends for some nibbles and even more photographs.

Published 09/06/23St Edmund's recently celebrated the World Day of Cultural Diversity with an incredible event that left everyone feeling enlightened and joyous. The entire school community came together to embrace the rich tapestry of cultures that make up our global society. It was a day filled with immersive experiences, engaging activities, and delightful presentations that showcased the beauty and uniqueness of different countries.
Throughout the day, students immersed themselves in the traditions of the country they had been assigned. The exploration included learning about the unique dances, arts, and culinary delights that define each culture.
The highlight of the day was the much-anticipated assembly where each year group took the stage to present their findings. The enthusiasm and pride radiated from the students as they confidently shared fascinating facts, showcased traditional dances, and displayed stunning artwork inspired by their chosen countries.
Thank you to Mrs. Nicola and Miss Virasami who organised and led the day.

Published 26/05/23In a heart-warming display of empathy and kindness, our Year 5 students have handcrafted fidget mittens for the residents of Eastbrook Care Home. These have coincided with the children learning about dementia and how to support individuals living with the illness, as their Design and Technology projects aimed to bring comfort and joy to those in need.
Under the guidance of Mrs Pope, the mittens were adorned with colourful buttons, soft fabrics and tactile elements, allowing for residents to keep their hands occupied and engaged.
A fantastic project which shows the wonderful impact our children can make on our wider community.

Published 05/05/23Today children at St Edmund’s came to school dressed in red, white and blue clothes as they took part in different exciting events to celebrate the King’s Coronation. On this historic weekend, when our country welcomed a new ruler, it was a day full of joy and festivities.
As a school, we were thrilled to be part of this significant event, and our students were excited to learn about the significance of the Coronation. Children learnt about the coronation traditions and the history and importance of the crown jewels, the robes and the throne, which will all be integral parts of the ceremony.
In the afternoon, year groups came together for a Coronation party with a traditional snack, dancing and plenty of singing!
It provided a fantastic opportunity for our students to learn about the traditions and customs of our country and celebrate an important event in our history. We hope that this day will remain etched in our students’ memories and that they will continue to learn about our country’s rich history and traditions.

Published 02/05/23On Thursday 20th April the Year 5 and 6 3v3 basketball team took part in a Basketball tournament and did extremely well, we have never had a basketball team. There were 11 teams, we played 4 matches playing against Hazelwood, Brimsdown, St. Andrew's and Scalcombe 1 in the first round of our group and in the final we played Bowes. Who were in the 2nd group. We came 3rd, well done St Edmund's, the whole team played brilliantly. Each match was 8 mins and all the matches were of a fast and tense pace. Well done!

Published 30/03/23Well done to the Netball team, they played extremely well winning both of their matches. They played Brettenham and Wilbury. Brettenham they beat 9-2 and Wilbury 8-0. Both games played were very fast and everyone contributed to the goals, a great team effort!

Published 17/03/23Thank you to Mrs Morrison from the St John's Ambulance who gave our second session on first aid. It was well attended, and the parents also experienced some practical activity. The parents were very much engaged.
Hopefully there will be a further session on other basic first aid.
