We were treated to a D-Day performance organised and led by Mrs Pearson. Children from Year 5 retold a variety of stories and memories from a range of people from different countries and jobs who had first-hand experience of D-Day, which celebrates its 80th Anniversary on June 6th. The children delivered these memoirs in a way that brought them back to life and particular credit goes to Isabella and Tristan for reciting their given accounts by heart. The readers were accompanied by the choir who, under the direction of Mrs Pope, tunefully and beautifully delivered a range of wartime classics such as 'A Long Way to Tipperary' and 'London Pride'. And the 'London Pride' was clearly on show as our children, who come from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, paid respect and homage to our city's ancestors, whom have enabled the city to be one of freedom and the wonderfully diverse place it is. We were also joined by members of the Leytonstone branch of the Royal British Legion, who do such an important job in ensuring that the efforts of previous generations are not forgotten by our younger generations. They thoroughly enjoyed the show, with Jane Lewis, their youth officer, saying:

  'Your production was fantastic, and the children are a credit to your school community'.
